Verruca

A Verruca is wart like growth caused by a specific strain of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).  Rough or spongy areas might appear on your foot as skin cell production is increased as a result of the virus. Sometimes little black dots appear also; these are thrombosed capillaries which mean that your body’s immune response is trying to tackle the foreign invader!

Verrucae can look pretty nasty and can sometimes cause discomfort. Even when they aren’t hurting, many people are embarrassed by how they look and are very keen to get rid of them!
They are very contagious but can be treated and prevented by a variety of means.

Please arrange an appointment to discuss treatment options.
